Mt. Lebanon Dermatology is entering an exciting new chapter under the leadership of Dr. Jeremy Udkoff. As a highly skilled dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, Dr. Udkoff brings an exceptional level of expertise, compassion, and innovation to our practice. In this exclusive Q&A, we get to know the man behind the white coat—his background, philosophy, and what patients can expect under his care.
Q: What inspired you to pursue dermatology?
I've always been drawn to medicine, but dermatology stood out because it blends science, artistry, and hands-on patient care. Skin health is incredibly important—it’s not just about appearance, but also about function, confidence, and overall well-being. Dermatology allows me to make an immediate impact, whether it’s treating skin cancer with Mohs surgery, restoring confidence through cosmetic treatments, or helping a patient find relief from a chronic skin condition.
Q: Can you tell us about your medical background and training?
I completed my dermatology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where I had the privilege of training under some of the top leaders in dermatology and Mohs surgery. My passion for skin cancer treatment led me to become the founding fellow of the ACMS-accredited Mohs, plastics, and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Tel Aviv Medical Center (TLVMC)—the only ACMS fellowship in all of Europe, Africa, and Asia.
In addition to Mohs, I also pursued advanced training in cosmetic dermatology, working alongside industry experts such as Dr. Ofir Artzi, Dr. Susan Obagi and Dr. Carolyn Willis. My expertise includes neuromodulators, fillers, facial plastics surgical procedures, and laser/light treatments.
Q: What brought you to Mt. Lebanon Dermatology?
Mt. Lebanon Dermatology has been a trusted name in the South Hills community for over 40 years, thanks to the incredible legacy built by Dr. Loren Funt. When Dr. Funt decided to transition away from managing the practice, I saw an opportunity to continue his tradition of excellence while expanding the practice’s offerings. My goal is to provide the best possible dermatologic care with a personal, patient-centered approach.
Q: What new services are you bringing to the practice?
A few exciting updates:
- In-House Mohs Surgery – Patients will now have access to expert Mohs micrographic dermatologic surgery for skin cancer right here in our office.
- Expanded Cosmetic Dermatology – We’re introducing more light energy device treatments, injectables, and advanced skin rejuvenation procedures.
- Enhanced Virtual Dermatology Appointments – We’re improving our e-derm telehealth options to increase accessibility and convenience.
- Upgraded Skincare Offerings – We’re carefully selecting medical-grade skincare products that deliver the best results.
- Streamlined Scheduling & New Website – We’re investing in a user-friendly online experience to make booking appointments easier than ever.
Q: How would you describe your approach to patient care?
My philosophy is simple: Every patient deserves personalized, high-quality care tailored to their needs. Whether I’m performing surgery, treating a skin condition, or enhancing someone’s confidence through cosmetic dermatology, my goal is always to listen, educate, and provide the best possible outcome. Patients should feel comfortable, respected, and empowered in their skincare journey.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of medicine?
I have a wide range of hobbies! I love spending time and traveling with my wife and four children. I also enjoy spearfishing, chess, bak
ing sourdough, smoking fish and meats, and 3D printing projects with my kids.
Q: We heard you have an interesting background outside of medicine—can you share a fun fact?
Absolutely! Before medical school, I worked as an HVAC technician and built ultra-low temperature refrigeration systems. But perhaps a more surprising fact is that I also have rabbinical ordination! I earned a combined BA/MA in Rabbinical Studies from the Jewish Education Leadership Institute, graduating Summa Cum Laude as valedictorian of my class.
Q: What’s one thing you want patients to know about you?
I genuinely care about my patients and am committed to bringing them the most advanced, effective, and compassionate care available. Whether you’re a longtime patient or visiting for the first time, I want you to know that you’re in good hands at Mt. Lebanon Dermatology.
Q: How can patients schedule an appointment with you?
It’s easy! Patients can call our office at (412) 563-0217 or book an appointment directly on our website. Whether you need a medical dermatology consultation, Mohs surgery, or are interested in cosmetic treatments, I’m excited to meet you and help you achieve your healthiest skin.
