Dr. Funt graduated from George Washington University Medical School following a combined 3-year college and a 4-year medical school program. He subsequently fulfilled a one-year internship in Washington, DC with the VA Hospital associated with Georgetown Hospital. Dr. Funt completed his dermatology residency in Detroit, Michigan at Henry Ford Hospital, a University of Michigan affiliated hospital.
Dr. Funt served as an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for over 20 years. He has lectured dermatology residents on a regular basis at UPMC, University of Michigan, Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. In addition, Dr. Funt teaches dermatology to Washington Family Hospital Practice residents.
Dr. Funt lives in Mt. Lebanon with his wife, Jackie, and their 3 dogs. The Funts have 4 grown children.
